The Crystal by Siemens houses the world's largest permanent exhibition focused on urban sustainability. AllofUs were asked to help design and develop seven of the interactive exhibits aimed to showcase global trends and challenges as well as inform about existing technology helpful to sustainable urban development.
THE SETUP
We created ten pieces of content for seven exhibits using Adobe After Effects for engaging video sequences, Adobe Air and and Unity3D to create touch screen interactives, and openFramewroks with Microsoft Kinect to create a game that uses skeleton tracking. Many of the exhibits were required to interface with additional hardware such as RFID readers, exhibit lighting, and even a Tesla coil!
MY ROLE
As the technical lead for AllofUs on this project, my responsibilities included developing the interactive software for six of the seven exhibits using Adobe Air and Unity3D. I also worked closely with the AV integrator to ensure all the hardware requirements were met and the installation process was smooth, collaborated with other creative agencies developing exhibits, continuously kept in touch with the client to update progress and manage their expectations, and kept all internal teams on track throughout the project's lifespan.
